“… The outside of the horse is good for the inside of the man..."

-Winston Churchill

Today horses are not only used for the pleasure of riding or the thrill of racing, they are used to help struggling teens, handicapped children, and adults looking for more self-confidence and higher self-esteem. With better self-esteem we are all more likely to make better choices.

Working with animals is very rewarding and has proven to build self-confidence and self-esteem.

Children are often unsure of themselves as they don't yet have a strong sense of self -- and this can bring with it a lack of confidence and self-esteem. Teaching people how to ride horses can help increase confidence, as well as help develop a stronger sense of self-worth.

The benefits of riding are countless (physical, mental and emotional). Exposure to these huge, yet gentle creatures, gives a person who cares for them a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. It is so rewarding to see people who wouldn't know this feeling any other way, exposed to the horses' magic. The fact that riding a horse is not an easy thing to do, and takes a lot of practice, will build self-esteem, a desire to persevere, and a true feeling of success when the student becomes a competent horse rider.

Being around horses often has a positive influence on the participants' self-image and self-confidence. Learning to lead a horse and take charge proves that they can make a difference and have the ability to actually do something independantly.

Bits & Bridles Farm is a community oriented organization. We welcome the opportunity to provide this experience to all ages.
